Islam is the only religion apart from Christianity, which believes in Jesus Christ peace be upon him. No Muslim is a Muslim if he believes in Islam and not in Jesus peace be upon him. Jesus has been mentioned no less than 25 times by his name in the holy Quran but the concept of Jesus in Islam is different from that in Christianity The holy Quran has described Jesus as a prophet of Allah and not His Son as it is believed in Christianity . The Quran talks about Mary the mother of Jesus as a believer in Islam. The holy Quran says in chapter Al-Imran verse no.42 And (remember) when the angels said: “ O Maryam(Mary)! Verily, Allah has chosen you, purified you (from polytheism and disbelief) and chosen you above the women of the Alamin (mankind and jinn) (of her lifetime).” Later on in the same chapter in verse no. 45 and 46 Allah has revealed: 45. When the angels said: “O Maryam (Mary) ! Verily Allah gives you the glad tidings of a Word[“Be!”- and he was! i.e. Isa (Jesus) the son of Maryam(Mary)] from Him, his name will be Al-Masih ‘Isa (Jesus), the son of Maryam (Mary) , held in honor in this world and in the Hereafter, and will be one of those who are near to Allah. 46. “He will speak to the people in the cradle and in manhood and he will be one of the righteous.” After Mary was given the glad tidings of a son she said 47( of the same chapter) she said: “ O my Lord! How shall I have a son when no man has touched me.” So ( it will be) for Allah creates what He wills. When He has decreed something He says to it only : “Be!”- and it is. The Quran has also talked about the miracles of Jesus Christ peace be upon him in the verse 49 of the same chapter . 49. And will make him [Isa (Jesus)] a Messenger to the children of Israel (saying): “I have come to you with a sign from your Lord, that I design for you out of clay, a figure like that of a bird, and breath into it and it becomes a bird by Allah’s Leave; and I heal him who was born blind, and the leper, and I bring the dead to life by Allah’s Leave. And I inform you of what you eat , and what you store in your houses. Surely, therein is a sign for you, if you believe. Christians believe that Jesus is the son of Allah (God) because he was born without a father, but I guess they fail to understand that God who has created the heavens and the earth and everything in it can create whomever and whatever He wills. He just says 'Be' and it happens. Furthermore God in the Holy Quran has said that the creation of Jesus peace be upon him is like that of Adam: when Allah can create Adam without a mother and father both why cant he create Jesus without a father?? Muslims also believe that Bible was sent by Allah but it has been changed and the current bible that exists is not the same bible which was sent by Allah . The current bible has many versions the most popular being James kings version and the Revised Standard Version. The Muslims also believe that Jesus was not crucified but it was Judas Iscariot himself who was made to look like Jesus and it was he who was crucified and God raised Jesus up along with his body. In the Holy Quran it is said in chapter Al-Imran verse no.55 And (remember) when Allah said: “ O Isa (Jesus)! I will take you and raise you to Myself and clear you [of the forged statement that Isa(Jesus) is Allah’s son ] of those who disbelieve , and I will make those who follow you (monotheists, who worship none but Allah ) superior to those who disbelieve [in the Oneness of Allah, or disbelieve in some of his Messengers e.g. Muhammad peace be upon him , Isa ( Jesus) peace be upon him or Musa(Moses) peace be upon him , or in his Holy Books like the Taurat (torah) the Injil(gospel) , the Quran] till the day of resurrection. Then you will return to me and I will judge between you in the matters in which you used to dispute.” Al-Imran 61. Then whoever disputes with you concerning him [Isa(Jesus)]after (all this) knowledge that has come to you [i.e. Jesus being a slave of Allah and having no share in Divinity], say (O Muhammad peace be upon you): “ come, let us call our sons and your sons, our women and your women, ourselves and yourselves—then we pray and invoke (sincerely) the Curse of Allah upon those who lie.” 62. Verily this is the true narrative [about the story of Isa(Jesus)], and la ilaha illallah (none has the right to be worshipped but Allah, The One and The Only True God, Who has neither a wife nor a son). And indeed, Allah in the All-Mighty, The All-Wise. Thus Jesus will come back and he will judge people by the law of the Quran and not by the law of bible as it has been changed. It t is said that Jesus Christ peace be upon him is currently in the fourth Heaven. In the New Testament of the Bible in the 4th chapter according to Matthew. The 6th and the 7th verses clearly indicates that Jesus is an obedient mortal and God is the Master and Lord according to his saying in the 7th verse: “ It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord, thy God.” In this chapter we read that Devil actually carries the Messiah, and took him from place to place. How can the devil carry God? Glory be to Allah He is above such blasphemy!! Besides all this Jesus has talked about the coming of a prophet in the current bible as well. If you read Gospel of John 14:15-16 “ if you love me, keep my commandments. And I will pray the Father and He shall give you another Comforter that he may abode with you forever.” Many Christians say that over here the bible is talking about the Holy Ghost, but in reality the Holy Ghost was already so how can he be the comforter?? In other verses such as John 15:26-27 John 16:5-8 John 16:12-14 John 16:16 Muslim theologians have stated that the person who is described by Jesus to come after him- in the above verses – does not comply with any other person but Muhammad peace be upon him the Messenger of Allah. This ‘person’ whom Jesus prophesied will come after him is called in the Bible ‘Parqaleeta’. This word was later deleted by interpreters and translators and changed at times to ‘Spirit of Truth’, and at other times, to ‘Comforter’ and sometimes to ‘Holy Spirit’. The original word is Greek and its meanings are ‘one whom people raise exceedingly’. The sense of the word is applicable to the word ‘Muhammad’ (in Arabic). Besides the above mentioned verses of the Quran Jesus has been mentioned various times repeatedly and it has clearly been indicated that Jesus was only a messenger of Allah and Allah is above all that they accuse Him of. In chapter Maryam (Mary) in the holy Quran Jesus says: 36. [Isa (Jesus) said:] “ and verily, Allah is my Lord and your Lord. So worship Him (Alone). That is the Straight path. (Allah’s religion of Islamic Monotheism which He did ordain for all of his Prophets).” Narrated Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him): the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him said, Allah said, ‘ the son of Adam tells lies against Me though he has no right to do so, and he abuses Me though he has no right to do so. As for his telling lies against Me, he claims that I cannot re-create him as I created him before; and as for abusing Me: it is his statement that I have a son ( or offspring). No! Glorified I am! I am far from taking a wife or a son (or offspring).’” Sahi Al-Bukhari Islam is a religion believing in all the prophets of Allah, we believe that all prophets were sent down with one message that is to believe and worship One God but later on these messages were changed and the final Prophet of God has come who is Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him and after him no prophet shall come. He was sent for the whole of mankind. It is an essential part of our belief to believe in all the Messengers of Allah and what was revealed to them. But all that was revealed to them has been changed and Quran in the only book that is in its original state as it was revealed as Allah Himself has promised that He will protect it from being maligned. Allah Himself is the protector of the Quran. He sent down the Bible and the Torah( the current one not being the original) and it is He Who has sent down the Quran. 1. Say ( O Muhammad peace be upon you) : “ He is Allah, (the) One 2. “Allah-us-Samad [Allah – the Self-sufficient Master, whom all creatures need, (he neither eats nor drinks)]. 3. “He begets not, nor was He begotten 4. “ And there is none co-equal to Him." P.S. This article has been written with the intension of telling others about Islams relation with Jesus pbuh and not to hurt or insult anyone.
